Methodology

One of the first actions undertaken in the project to prepare a Map of Arid, Semi-Arid and Sub-Humid Zones in LAC was a Workshop aimed at presenting a general methodology proposal that could be applied in the countries of the region and thus develop this initiative.

Representatives from Chile (Guido Soto, Fernando Santibañez, Roberto Pizarro, Luis Aguilera, Claudia Sanguesa, Manuel Soto,) Mexico (José Donaldo Ríos,) Argentina (Elena Abraham, María Cristina Moyano,) Venezuela (Deyanira Lobo, Francisco Ovalles y Nectalí Rodríguez,) and the Flemish Government (Donald Gabriels) participated in this first Workshop, as well as from Organizations and Institutions working for the UNESCO – IHP Program.

The purpose of the first workshop was to define and establish objectives, contents, methodology and work scope to be followed, as well as the output and stages in which the project will be divided and preliminary output from each stage.

Therefore the following document describes the criteria and methodologies adopted to develop this activity. The methodology was prepared by Dr. Deyanira Lobo, with the assistance of the following specialists: Donald Gabriels, Francisco Ovalles V., Fernando Santibañez, María Cristina Moyano, Raúl Aguilera, Roberto Pizarro, Claudia Sangüesa and Nelson Urra.
