Preliminary Results

This section shows a summary of preliminary results, by country. This information is available for public use and may be downloaded to help achieve the project objectives. In addition to general information and links to other data sources, two databases are included.

The first is FAO’s agriculture-climatologic data  (2001), containing 6847 stations with climate data. Only a small portion of these stations (8% or 524 stations), provide all the information required to calculate evapo-transpiration with the Penman-Monteith formula. The others have part of the information (12% or 831 stations). Information from these stations may be improved and completed with new and more recent data.

The second database is formed up of agriculture-climate data of Latin America and the Caribbean (FAO, 1984). This source is older and contains information from a smaller number of stations (799). However, it includes all the data of the 1931-1960 period.
