Launch of the Dryland Expert Database for LAC

The MWAR-LAC project launches the Dryland Expert Database, to support the community working and interested in Desertification, Drought and Land Degradation. The objective of the database is to keep track of institutes and experts active in the area, as well as to follow new developments with respect to projects, publications and events. The database is freely accessible online, and any institute active in the region can request a login to contribute or update the Dryland Expert Database. The online database can also be embedded in any website, and is available as a full page, one column, or as a search bar.

The database holds information on specialists, publications, events, projects and institutions in the area of Dryland management. It is developed in a way that it is easy to find information and to share your own information. Every specialist, publication, event, project and institution has his own webpage with all information and is linked to associated specialists, publications, events, projects or institutions.

The calendar incorporated in the database holds information on important events in the area of Desertification, Drought and Land Degradation. Within the Database a search tool is installed that allows you to search within the data. You can specify the field wherein you want to search: specialists, publications, events, projects, institutions or all. In this way it is easy to search for example for specialists working in the same country as you on a particular subject.

Experts associated to an institute can request access to store directly contact information, publications and events in the database. As an expert you can add following information to your profile: contact information (mail, telephone number and direction), photo, web, resume, experience, institution, formation and you can add documents.  You can also link your profile to projects, publications or events you participated in.
