CAZALAC contributes to regional efforts in order to include in public agendas and in the scientific community in Latin American and the Caribbean countries, mechanisms to increase the capacity of local communities to adapt to global hazards. This is possible through a regional centre that is specialized in articulating relevant actions on water issues  in arid and semiarid environments, both at a decision maker level in institutions that manage the countries’ water resources and at a researchers, professionals and technicians’ level.

The basis for this articulation has been generated and developed in CAZALAC’s first phases, creating an excellent support to progress in the reduction of environmental vulnerability of arid and semi-arid zones to the threats represented by global changes through an improved water management.
